Magnificent Oblacinsko Lake, a jewel of southern Serbia. There is a famous legend about the origin of the lake and about this whole area.

Many, many years ago, when the lake did not yet exist, people settled there. Then they decided to plant wheat, barley, oats, vines, keep bees, in one word, they started a life, which the fertile land enabled them. The more people there were, the more conflicts there were. As the tension increased, it peaked. Suddenly, due to too many conflicts, big clouds formed, a storm was preparing, a storm that would change everything. It started to thunder and lightning, it started to rain, the storm was there. People got scared and started to run away. They escaped on three hammers. In the areas where they lived, large fires and fires started to form, everything they worked for all their lives was destroyed. People who were hiding began to wonder why this was happening to them. They came to the conclusion that all this was happening because of their conflicts. That’s why they reconciled. In the area where their homes and crops were located, the magnificent Oblacinsko Lake of light blue color was created, which was named Oblačinsko because of the clouds that reigned that day due to the conflict of people. After the Great Dane, they decided to build their houses around the lake, so the surrounding villages were formed.

As more and more people were in the village they came to the conclusion that every time there was thunder and some clouds then ale and dragons quarreled. And that the dragon is on their side and in the lake supposedly. However, as compensation for this he takes people and cattle and so they began to disappear. People were not so wealthy and then they complained to the richest man who was Veliki Jastrebac, he had huge forests, herds, expanses. He told them not to worry and that he would gladly sacrifice his cattle. As time passed, the dragon asked for more and more, so that the Great Hawk had nothing more to give him. His son, Little Hawk, rebelled and decided to kill the dragon. His mother, Padina, and his father, Veliki Jastrebac, asked him not to do that because his son was more important to them than cattle.

However, he came to the lake and said that he would sleep there until he killed the dragon. So one day the dragon disappeared, but also the Little Hawk. His father and mother began to cry, and from their tears arose our two famous rivers, the West and South Morava, which flowed on their own until they united into the Great Morava and flowed into the Danube and later into the Black Sea. After some time, Mali Jastrebac crossed the Danube holding the hand of a sour cherry woman, when his parents saw that he was taking his daughter-in-law with them, they were delighted and invited various people to live here, and so the church of St. Jovana. In order to respect their daughter-in-law, mother Padina said that if one region can plant fields and fields of lavender for its bride, we can also cherries. So they planted cherries all around. The surrounding villagers were delighted with the cherry, which has a specific taste and good fruit, so they also started planting. That is how cherries became famous in this area.

The village of Lepaja is located near Oblačinsko Lake. It has been there for about 300 years and it is also known for cherries. Behind that name Lepaja lies a special mystery that is passed from generation to generation in the village. Namely, even in the time of the Turks, when young girls were taken to Istanbul, she was the most beautiful girl in the village. In order to prevent her destiny, she came to a stream that flows through the village and a beautiful self spoke over the stream, me poor me and she scolded her face like that. The Turks liquidated her because they were no longer satisfied with her beauty. And from her moaning beautiful self, poor self, the name of the village Lepaja came about.
